Dr. Reece is a native of Valdosta, Georgia and has resided in Atlanta and Gainesville for the past 22 years. She earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Mercer University College of Pharmacy in 2001. She completed a community pharmacy residency with Mercer University and The Kroger Company from 2001 to 2002. She has worked in numerous areas of pharmacy including public health, ambulatory care and academia. Dr. Reece is Certified Diabetes Educator, Board Certified in Advanced Diabetes Management and Board Certified Ambulatory Care Pharmacist.
Currently, Dr. Reece is an associate professor and vice chair of Department of Pharmacy Practice and director of Inter-Professional Education for Philadelphia College of Medicine Georgia Campus School of Pharmacy in Suwanee, Georgia. Dr. Reece was elected in 2015 to the American Association of Diabetes Educators Board of Directors for a three-year term and was elected in 2018 to serve as the Board Treasure for 2019. She was appointed by Georgia Governor Nathan Deal in 2015 to serve on the Medical Cannabis Commission. Dr. Reece has numerous publications regarding diabetes and currently hosts a blog entitled “Reece’s Pieces in a Diabetes World.”
Dr. Reece is passionate about advancing access to health care and believes that creative teaching is integral in shaping the future of medicine. She firmly believes investing through education in the development of healthcare professionals is vital. Outside of the classroom and clinic, she enjoys spending time with family, exercising and gardening as well as serving in her local church.
