Welcome from Dr. Delzell!
My name is Dr. John Delzell. I am the vice president for medical education for Northeast Georgia Health System and designated institutional official for Northeast Georgia Medical Center. Thank you for your interest in residency training in our system. This is an exciting step in your academic and medical career.
My original interest and attraction to academic medicine was because of teaching. I was fortunate to have mentors in medical school and residency who nurtured and encouraged my teaching endeavors. Those mentors had a huge impact on the kind of physician that I am.
At Northeast Georgia Medical Center, we are building one of the largest GME programs in the State of Georgia – but we are committed to building a different kind of training program through our Health System’s Quest for Excellence.
Quest for Excellence is our goal of creating exceptional patient experiences. We strive to provide the best patient care in a safe and efficient environment. We work towards this goal every day through continuous improvement, leadership development, and lean methodology. We want to develop and train the next generation of physician leaders who see challenges as opportunities, quality medical care as an expectation, and believe in the tenet of first do no harm – and at Northeast Georgia, we do that through a unique and culture-driven curriculum.
Please take the time to explore our programs and to find out about living in Gainesville.
