Faculty Development at NGMC GME
Faculty members are a foundational element of graduate medical education as they teach residents how to care for patients.
Faculty members provide an important bridge allowing residents to grow and become practice-ready, ensuring that patients receive the highest quality of care. They are role models for future generations of physicians by demonstrating compassion, commitment to excellence in teaching and patient care, professionalism and a dedication to lifelong learning.
Mission & Goals
Mission
Our mission is to raise the bar in achieving faculty excellence. We strive to pioneer innovative practices in Graduate Medical Education to inspire a community to be passionate lifelong learners who are committed to advancing healthcare, shaping future leaders and improving patient care outcomes.
Goals
Our faculty development program encompasses structured programming that aims to enhance educator knowledge, skill and behavior to ultimately improve medical training. Faculty development occurs in a variety of configurations (lectures, workshops, etc.) using internal and/or external resources.
Framework
The ACGME common program requirements state that faculty must pursue faculty development designed to enhance their skills – at least annually.
Faculty Development Advisory Committee
As a key component of our institution’s commitment to academic excellence, the committee plays a crucial role in supporting the professional growth and development of our faculty members.
Our primary goal is to promote and enhance teaching excellence across all academic disciplines. This involves identifying innovative teaching methodologies, incorporating technology in education, and fostering an environment that encourages continuous improvement in pedagogical approaches.
The committee is dedicated to identifying, organizing, and promoting various professional development opportunities for faculty members. This includes workshops, seminars, conferences, and other events that contribute to the intellectual and professional growth of our faculty.
